Labor Day: Good Shepherd International Festival Returns for 38th Year

Event provided $28,000 for nonprofit programs in 2012.

Good Shepherd Catholic Church will be bringing the Mount Vernon community together again this Labor Day for the 38th Annual International Festival.

The event will be from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 2, held on the grounds of the church, 8710 Mt. Vernon Highway. Shuttle service will be provided from Mount Vernon High School.

Activities include ethnic dishes and drinks, live entertainment and children's games. There will also be an Artisan row, bingo and a raffle with the grand prize of $10,000 cash. And a white elephant sale begins at 11 a.m. More info.

The festival raises funds and awareness for the Shepherd's Gate grant program, benefiting non-profits supporting the poor and disenfranchised.
Proceeds from last year's festival provided $28,000 for these groups. More info.
