VIDEO: Mount Vernon Welcomes Liberty and Peace

The Mount Vernon Estate welcomes the presidential pardoned turkeys.

Liberty, the presidential pardoned turkey, was greeted with fanfare as he was welcomed to the on Wednesday afternoon.

President Barack Obama pardoned both Liberty and Peace, the alternate turkey, Wednesday morning in the North Portico of the White House. The 19-week old, 45-pound turkeys hail from Minnesota and will live out the rest of their days at the Mount Vernon Estate.

This year marks the second year that the Estate will host the presidential pardoned turkeys. The pair will be on display until January 6 as part of the estate's program.
