Subject Identified in GW Parkway Crash

George Washington Parkway blocked in both directions this morning.

UPDATE Nov. 19, 5:30 p.m.: The driver killed in this morning's accident on the George Washington Parkway has been identified.

Richard Allen Taylor, 25, of Alexandria died as a result of his injuries at the scene of the accident on the George Washington Parkway this morning, according to NPS spokesperson Sergeant Paul Brooks.

The George Washington Parkway is closed in both directions this morning due to a serious car accident, NBC Washington reported shortly before 6:30 a.m.

The road is closed between Mount Vernon Memorial Highway and Vernon View Drive.

Only one car was involved in the accident, reportedly losing control around a curve. The driver was killed; the passenger was injured, according to police.
