Crime Report: Husband Helps Wife Retrieve Stolen Purse

Larceny/Assault

A 60-year-old man was charged with grand larceny and assault after Fairfax County police said he was caught trying to steal a woman’s purse.

The incident took place at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday on the 2900 block of Arlington Drive in the Hybla Valley area. Police said a woman reported seeing a man reach into her car and take her purse. Her husband chased the robber and was struck, according to police.

Theodore Smalley, who has no fixed address, was charged with grand larceny and assault.

Burglary

A television was reported stolen from a home at noon on Saturday on the 4600 block of Lawrence Street, according to police.

Larcenies:

  • 4500 block of Colony Court: laptop reported stolen from residence
  • 2400 block of Fort Drive: front tag reported stolen from vehicle
  • 4600 block of Lawrence Street: television reported stolen from residence
  • 6400 block of Olmi Landrith Drive: cash and jewelry reported stolen from residence
  • 2500 block of Parkers Lane: cash reported stolen from hospital
  • 6300 block of Richmond Highway: license plate reported stolen from vehicle
  • 7300 block of Richmond Highway: electronic device reported stolen from residence
  • 7900 block of Richmond Highway: clothing and shoes reported stolen from business
