The Fairfax County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics will host a kickoff event in Burke Wednesday morning for the countywide 2013 "Fill the Boot" collection campaign.
The annual campaign benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Last year, Fairfax County raised more than $550,000 for MDA. during Fill the Boot, more than any group in the country.
The kickoff event starts at 10:30 a.m. at Burke Station 14, located at 9501 Old Burke Lake Rd., and will feature appearances from local officials, including Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-11th).
"Fill the Boot" is a partnership between several groups including the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, Fairfax County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics, Fairfax County Department of Public Safety Communications, Greater Washington Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Subway Restaurants.
