Juvenile Charged for Starting Fire in Trash Can at West Potomac High School

No one was injured during the incident Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department charged a 16-year-old juvenile for starting a fire in a trash can in a bathroom Wednesday afternoon at West Potomac High School.

According to a news release, school security was able to quickly extinguish the fire. School fire and smoke detection or suppression systems did not activate. No one was injured during the incident.

The juvenile is charged with Virginia Code 18.2-81, burning personal property, a class one misdemeanor. Damage is estimated at $50.
