Mount Vernon Man with Alzheimers Still Missing

Mohammad Sharif Yazdani was last seen prior to Hurricane Sandy.

Update 9:54 a.m. -- Four search and rescue teams — including trained volunteers, police personnel and dogs — are searching the southwest woods of Huntley Meadows park this morning near the Hayfield Farm Swim Club for Mohammad Sharif Yazdani.

Yazdani was last seen at his home in the Mount Vernon area on Oct. 24. He has Alzheimers and speaks limited English.

The park is the last place dogs picked up Yazdani's scent, said Fairfax County Police Department Public Information Officer Lucy Caldwell from the park this morning.

Family members, volunteers and police are still searching for a 64-year-old man from the Mount Vernon area who has Alzheimers and has been missing since Oct. 24.

Mohammad Sharif Yazdani was last seen by relatives at his residence in the 3800 block of Havenwood Place around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24. Havenwood Place is just south of Hunley Meadow and Mount Vernon Woods parks.

Yazdani — a 64-year-old, white male — may appear to be confused and disoriented and speaks limited English. He often walks in the Alexandria area on Richmond Highway, according to Fairfax County Police officials.

Yazdani is 5 feet 6 inches, about 160 pounds with brown to gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and blue Croc-style shoes.
