Multiple Break-Ins, Burglaries Reported in Mount Vernon Area

The following items are from the recent weekly activity report from the Mount Vernon Police District of the Fairfax County Police Department.
Assault/Larceny (blue on map), 11 p.m., June 20, 4000 block of Fielding Street, A 14-year-old boy reportedly was at a local park attempting to retrieve his bicycle. Several juvenile boys confronted him and allegedly assaulted him. One of the boys walked away with the victim’s basketball and another took the bicycle. The victim received minor injuries. Three juveniles have been identified and petitions are pending. An investigation continues.
Burglary/Warrant Service (red on map), 5:30 a.m., June 21, 6100 block of North Kings Highway, An employee reported someone entered the business and stole merchandise. Forced entry was made through a wall. While conducting their investigation, officers located James Via, 23, of Alexandria. Via was wanted for unrelated charges and arrested.
Burglary (red on map), 8500 block of Greenleaf Street, 6/22/13, 11 a.m. A resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. Forced entry was made through a door.
Burglary (red on map) 11:45 a.m., June 22, 8500 block of Greenleaf Street, A resident reported that someone entered the home several weeks ago and stole jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry.

Assault (blue on map), 9:40 p.m., June 22, Elkin Street/Fort Hunt Road, Officers were called for a man allegedly running naked in the street. Lorenza Myers, 20, of Alexandria, was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer, drunk in public, resisting arrest, and indecent exposure.
Assault/Destruction (blue on map), 12:30 a.m., June 23, 6300 block of South Kings Highway, Officers were called for a fight and located two young women fighting. A 15-year-old victim was not seriously injured. Naje Shield, 18, of Fort Belvoir, was charged with assault and battery, destruction of property, and drunk in public. Allegedly, Shield shattered a window on the patrol car after being taken into custody.

Unlawful Entry (yellow on map), 1:30 p.m., June 23, 4200 block of Buckman Road, An employee reported someone entered the business but nothing was stolen. Entry was made through an unsecured door.
Drunk in Public (pink on map), 2:10 a.m., June 26, 7200 block of Richmond Highway, Officers were called for an individual allegedly intoxicated. Jaimon Spinner, 25, of Alexandria, was located in the business. Spinner allegedly resisted being taken into custody. He was charged with drunk in public and resisting arrest.
Burglary (red on map), 9:40 p.m., June 26, 7800 block of Southdown Road, A resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry. Forced entry was made through a garage door.
