Pedestrian Struck in Mount Vernon

A child was struck by a car in the Mount Vernon Woods neighborhood.

Updated Friday, April 22, 2:45 p.m.

No charges were pressed against the driver in yesterday's incident, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

A 34-year-old man was driving a 1997 Nissan Altima down Kidd Street when a child ran into the side of the car, said police department spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell.  The driver was not in excess of posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour, said Caldwell.

The child sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle earlier today. 

According to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, the call came in at 2:45 p.m. A juvenile pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near 8004 Kidd Street and was transported via Medevac helicopter to a nearby hospital. The pedestrian was conscious and talking at the time of transport.
