Police Blotter: April 26, 2011

Incidents reported to the Mount Vernon district substation of the Fairfax County Police Department.

Each week, the Fairfax County Police Department releases an update with incidents that have occurred across the county. The following incidents occurred last week in the Mount Vernon Police District:

Major incidents: 

Police arrested a man for burglarizing the Citgo gas station in the 8100 block of Mount Vernon Highway on Saturday around 11:11 p.m. Michael S. Cummings, 23, of Alexandria, was charged with burglary, destruction of property, and public intoxication.

On Sunday, April 17, two men robbed three women as they entered a building in the 8400 block of Graves Street around 2 a.m. One man displayed a knife and the other displayed a gun; they stole property from the victims and fled. One of the victims chased after one of the suspects and held him until the police arrived. At press time, no charges have been filed and the incident is still under investigation. 

On Monday, April 18, a police officer was driving in the vicinity of Old Mill Road and Pole Road when an The officer was hit and sustained minor injuries. A suspect was not found.

Larcenies:

A handgun was stolen from a residence in the 8300 block of Brockham Drive.

A bicycle was stolen from a residence in the 3500 block of Buckman Road. 

A wallet was stolen from a business in the 8600 block of Richmond Highway.

Two bottles of wine were stolen from a business in the 8600 block of Richmond Highway. 

A 2001 Nissan Sentra was stolen from a location in the 8100 block of Richmond Highway.
