Police Investigate Mount Vernon Burglary

The suspect fled in the victim's car.

Fairfax County Police are investigating a reported burglary of an 82-year-old woman’s home that occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 in the 8000 block of Russell Road.

According to an email sent by the police department, the woman was sitting in her bed watching television when her bedroom window was smashed out. As the woman went to the window she found a man crawling inside the house. The suspect grabbed the woman and forced her into another room. He demanded money and the victim complied. The suspect disabled the telephone and took a cell phone. The suspect took the victim's car keys and fled in her car, a 1989 gray Pontiac Firebird. Police recovered the car on Feb. 22 in the Beacon Hill area.

The victim did not require medical treatment.
