Police Charge Three with DWI in Friday Night Sobriety Checkpoint

More than 700 cars were stopped.

Fairfax County Police charged three drivers Friday night for driving under the influence during their sobriety checkpoint in the Mount Vernon Police District. The checkpoint was located at Richmond Highway and Dawn Drive.

Officers conducted a DWI checkpoint, searching for drunk drivers. In all, 711 vehicles passed through. Three drivers were charged with DWI. Six summonses were issued and two criminal arrests were made.

Police did not give more information about the criminal arrests.
