VIDEO: Police Seek Suspect in Mount Vernon Vandalism

Fairfax county police have released a video of the suspect in action.

Fairfax County police are looking for a young man who vandalized property in Mount Vernon with orange spray paint over the summer.

Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said the incidents occurred in June and July on Ferry Landing Road, Heather Glen Drive, Forest Haven Drive, Scotland Road and Craig Avenue. In one instance, a home security camera captured footage of the suspect, who remains at large.

“We have talked with numerous teenagers in area, as well as the local high schools in an attempt to identify the individual, but those leads were exhausted, and that’s why this video is being released,” Caldwell said.

The vandalism affected boats, sidewalks, cars and street signs. It consisted of racial slurs and foul language that upset neighbors, although no particular racial or ethnic group was targeted, Caldwell said. The graffiti has since been removed.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Detective D. Davis at the Mount Vernon District Station, 703-360-8403.
