Del. Surovell, Senators Puller and Ebbin Host Town Hall Saturday

The town hall meeting will cover issues affecting local residents.

Del. Scott Surovell (D-44th), Sen. Toddy Puller (D-36th), and Sen. Adam Ebbin (D-30th) will host their annual legislative town hall on Saturday, Feb. 16 in Mount Vernon.

The area's state lawmakers, who have been busy working in Richmond during the General Assembly session, will discuss issues that will impact the Mount Vernon community. The discussion will cover the following:

  • The state of Route 1 funding
  • State transportation funding proposals
  • Senate redistricting
  • Women's health and anti-contraception measures
  • Gun safety legislation
  • Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act
  • Uranium mining
  • State budget amendments

The local legislators will review their legislative agendas and field questions from attendees.

The town hall meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Mount Vernon Government Center, 2511 Parkers Lane in Alexandria.

Interesting. In Surovell's e-mail announcement, he refers to "gun control" - which is what the three of these legislators proposed this year - instead of "gun safety legislation" which they didn't. He also lists immigration and the Governor's education proposals as topics.

Unfortunately, I had to miss it, as I'm in the stage of a cold that's very contagious. Is there going to be a transcript or recording available?
