Fairfax Forward Community Meeting Briefs Residents on Status

The meeting will discuss a more substantial change to the existing Comprehensive Plan review process.

A community meeting informing residents about the status of Fairfax Forward will take place Wednesday night at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center.

Fairfax Forward is an ongoing effort to find a new means to review the Comprehensive Plan, which would be an alternative to the Area Plans Review process, according to the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning website. This effort resulted from the 2011 Area Plans Review Retrospective, which sought to evaluate the regular cycle of review of the Comprehensive Plan.

The website states the following: “After reviewing the results of a number community meetings and a survey conducted as part of the retrospective, it was recognized that improvements to the existing process would not address reoccurring issues and a more substantial change should occur.”

The meeting will take place Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Governmental Center.
