George Allen Votes in Mount Vernon

The Senate candidate cast his vote in the pre-dawn hours Tuesday in Virginia.

Republican Senate candidate George Allen and wife Susan Allen met with reporters shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday outside their home precinct, Washington Mill Elementary School in Mount Vernon.

"Did I get any sleep last night? Not that much," George Allen said.

"We're happy this day has come," he said. "It's a day for decision, and it's our generation's rendezvous with destiny. I'm optimistic that Virginians will stand strong for freedom and opportunity for all."Β

On the rest of the day's activities for George and Susan Allen:Β "We've got to get in here and vote," he said. "That's the most important thing. Susan will be going to other precincts around Northern Virginia. I'm going to be heading out to Loudoun and back to Fairfax and Prince William, and then head on down to Henrico, Chesterfield and the Richmond area. That's where we have our victory party tonight."Β

Democratic opponent Tim Kaine and wife Anne Holton are expected to vote near their home in Richmond.
