Photos: New Wayfinding Signs Unveiled on Route 1

SFDC, Fairfax County, and VDOT unveiled the first of 12 wayfinding signs to be installed in November.

The Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation (SFDC), VDOT, and Fairfax County unveiled the first of 12 new Richmond Highway wayfinding signs in a ceremony on Wednesday.

The new wayfinding signs are

Mount Vernon District Supervisor Gerry Hyland told attendees, "This is a great day for the entire Richmond Highway community." Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay added, “These signs add to the long list of recent improvements to our neighborhoods."

The first wayfinding sign is located outside the Potomac Square shopping center on Richmond Highway. The sign marks the Mount Zephyr commercial area.

"These high-quality and durable signs help to distinguish our unique neighborhoods," SFDC Executive Director David Versel said in a statement. "They give a sense of place and promote an identity for each node of Richmond Highway."
