UPDATE: Starbucks Wins 'Best Coffee Shop' Poll

Hollin Hall Bakery comes in close second

Patch readers have spoken and named Starbucks their favorite in our "Best of Route 1" poll. Congratulations!

Starbucks took home 9 votes and Hollin Hall Pastry came in a close second, with 7 votes. With such a close vote, Patch is also honoring Hollin Hall Pastry with "Best of" bragging rights for Favorite Independent Coffee Shop.

Both Starbucks and Hollin Hall Pastry will receive a framed "Best of Alexandria" certificate from Patch.

Next up: Route 1 banks. Get ready—voting begins Monday at 5 a.m.

Now that it's actually beginning to feel like winter, where's the best spot in town to grab a hot cup of coffee? Patch wants you to pick your favorite coffee shop on Route 1. You have until Friday at 9 a.m. to vote.

Which is your favorite?

Vote for your favorite coffee shop in the poll below and don't forget to click on the links above and rate the shops on their Patch directory listing. You can even leave a review. Tell us why it's your favorite coffee shop: Outstanding coffee, quick lines, friendly service, nice ambiance, useful use of social media, easy parking? Let other readers know the inside scoop.

What will the winner get? Bragging rights! They'll be able to tell everyone they were voted a "Best of Route 1" by Patch readers.

And in the event of a tie in our survey, we will break the tie by counting the positive comments written both below and on the store's listing on Patch. So please let us know why you think your choice is the best.

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

You list only one Starbucks and our community actually has 3: Beacon Hill, Hybla Valley, and Engleside in the Safeway!

I'm visiting all the Starbucks stores I can, as often as I can, as they are currently (again) facing an attempt at corporate blackmail over their decision to support the law of the states in which they operate.

Actually there are 4 Starbucks - 1 in each Safeway, Beacon Hill and Mt Vernon. And that does not include the 2 on Fort Belvoir.

Ah, the ambience of the Lowe's parking lot. Well played, Starbucks. Boo.
