Members of the team broke school records, attained personal bests.

The Mount Vernon Majors girls track and field team broke school records and recorded personal bests at the PG Sportsplex during Saturday's Montgomery Invitational.

High school track teams from across the D.C. metropolitan area competed in track and field events during the twelfth annual invitational meet.

The Majors 4 x 200 meter relay team ran the fastest time by a MVHS relay team in more than a decade, which qualifies the team for a spot in the Northern Region Championships with a rank of 5th place in the region. The squad consists of runners Kaleigh Winner, Alliyah Stevens, Jasmine Hill and Brianna Coleman.

MVHS junior Jasmine Hill set a new school record in the 500 meter dash, placing 7th overall to move into first place in the National District and fifth in the region. She is now ranked 17th in the state for the 500 meter dash.
