The Fairfax County Crime Solvers are partnering with Capital Area Runners to host their first 5K run fundraiser. This event is open to the public and is a family-friendly event. The fundraiser will take place August 4 at the Fairfax Corner Shopping Center on Grand Commons Avenue in Fairfax.

Participants can register themselves and their families and friends for the run by visiting the Crime Solvers website for the event. The run will start at 8 a.m.

Crime Solvers is a non-profit 501c3 organization that provides an anonymous phone tip line as well as texting and email capabilities to the public to report criminal information. Under state law, the identities of tipsters are protected. The program is run by Fairfax County residents and small business leaders — not the police department —  who seek to make the county a safe place to live and visit.

Crime Solvers pay cash rewards of $100 to $1,000 to anonymous tipsters when their information leads to an arrest and indictment. Cash rewards are paid with money raised  through fundraisers such as the 5K run.
