Pro-bono Volunteering: It Just Makes Sense!

Nonprofits are constantly being faced with growing needs. However, not many have the sufficient resources to meet all of these needs. Most nonprofits lack the professional skills they need to operate as efficiently as possible. This coupled with the rise in corporate social responsibility makes pro-bono volunteering very attractive to nonprofit organizations, corporations and  professionals.

The bottom line is that pro-bono volunteering just makes sense. Pro-bono or skill based volunteering is incredibly valuable to nonprofits and almost essential to their success. Pro-bono volunteers offer professional skills to nonprofits that they otherwise would not have been able to afford and serve as a means of strengthening ties to corporate supporters looking to give back to the community. The skills that these professionals bring to nonprofits enable them to focus their time, funds, and energy on more important areas of their organization such as programs.

Studies have proved that employee volunteering boosts company morale, builds teamwork and also improves a company's corporate image. Along with this it also provides professional development to employees. Volunteering is one of the top ways of expanding and sharpening professional skills. According to Forbes, volunteering is a great way to learn executive leadership skills. By volunteering in this way, professionals are able to leverage their skills to make an impact in a nonprofit organization and also advance their professional goals.
