Tips to Reduce Holiday Waste

The EPA says there are easy ways to help keep the green in the environment during the holidays.

Some 40 percent of all battery sales occur during the holiday season, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  That's only one of the holiday increases which can negatively impact the environment.  Electricity, paper and water are among the other resources whose use increases in December. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like....

Christmas displays the second week of November: too soon, or too jolly? This couple has checked its list twice and come away with two, very different conclusions.

Remember a week and a half ago, when every store in town was crammed with jack-o-lanterns, plastic spiders and cobwebs?  Did anyone notice once the clock struck 12:01 a.m. on November 1st how the Halloween festivities were literally swallowed by red and green holiday cheer?  Christmas in Mount Vernon is hard to ignore, considering the estate boasts activities beginning later this month that include a gingerbread replica of the mansion and holiday chocolatiers.  That's right folks, it's barely the second week of November, but it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  So how do we feel about early yuletide cheer?  The yin and yang of this couple have very different opinions.
