Mount Vernon High School Basketball Stars Celebrate Commitment on NCAA Signing Day

Seniors Taylor Dunham, Kelly Loftus, and Tiffany Webster will play basketball in college next year.

Mount Vernon High School basketball players Taylor Dunham, Kelly Loftus, and Tiffany Webster gathered Wednesday in the Michael Skinner field house to celebrate their commitments to play basketball in college next year. Dunham, Loftus, and Webster have played basketball together since they were 10 years old. Seven years later, they have made great strides in the sport and have been named captains of the Lady Majors basketball team their senior year. “They’ve grown together and created a good friendship,” Lisa Webster remarked. “They work together on and off the court. The younger girls rely on them.” Loftus will play for Hofstra University on Long Island. Loftus led the Majors in one of its most successful seasons during her junior year. …

Speak Out: Who Won the Second Presidential Debate?

Tell us: Did President Barack Obama or Gov. Mitt Romney perform better at Thursday's debate? Did the debate strengthen or hurt either campaign?

President Barack Obama and Republican hopeful Gov. Mitt Romney met Tuesday night for their second debate this election season, this time in a "town hall" format that allowed citizens to ask questions on foreign policy, oil and jobs, among other topics. The debate, at Hofstra University in New York, was crucial for both candidates, who are less than a month out from the Nov. 6 election. The candidates' running mates debated last week in Kentucky. Many experts said Vice President Joe Biden came out ahead of Republican candidate Paul Ryan in the meeting. What Time is the Presidential Debate?

Here are details on Tuesday's debate between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney.

The second presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Gov. Mitt Romney is set for 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. The debate is at Hofstra University in New York. In the first debate, the candidates focused on domestic issues, including the economy and taxes, health care reform and the role of government.  This second debate between the candidates is a town hall-style debate, including questions from the audience.
