Forecasters say area could see "nothing to 2 inches of snow for west of I-95; nothing to 1 inch east of I-95."

The calendar officially says spring but Northern Virginia could be in for a few snow flakes Sunday night, according to area forecasters.  Here's a roundup of what some local weather forecasters are saying about our potential for snow Sunday evening into Monday morning: Capital Weather Gang: "In the pre-dawn hours, there’s a 40-50% chance a heavier band of snow comes through capable of whitening the grass from D.C./I-95 to the east, and putting down an inch or so of snow west of D.C./I-95 mainly on grass but with some slick spots possible." National Weather Service: "Low pressure will impact the area tonight...bringing the likelihood for a wintry mix of precipitation. Accumulating snow is expected north and west of the Interstate 95 …

Tips for Safe Walking in Snow and Ice

Prepare ahead to be safe in the ice and snow.

Worried about dealing with snow and ice if the storm predictions come true? Prepare ahead of time with these tips from the Snow and Ice Management Association. Falls account for more than one million injuries in the United States annually. There are four types of walking accidents with the most common being the slip and fall. "Every winter the hazards of driving in snow and icy conditions are noted, but rarely is walking on snow and ice addressed," said Martin B.
