Last Chance: Tickets Still Available for Farm to Table Event

Historic Mount Vernon will host its first farm to table dinner on Saturday evening.

Tickets are still available for Historic Mount Vernon’s Farm to Table event and dinner on Saturday night. The event will showcase fresh food grown at Mount Vernon and its historical purposes. Guests will learn how food was grown, stored, and prepared for the Washington family during an exclusive tour of the historic area. Following the tour, guests will enjoy a four-course dinner, including dishes such as red and gold beet salad with goat cheese and fried okra croutons tossed in a citrus vinaigrette and grilled black mission figs with gorgonzola cheese and honey.    Tickets are $175 per person and include tax and gratuity. New Culinary Event at Mount Vernon Showcases Fresh Food

Inaugural "Farm to Table" event features food from Mount Vernon's garden.

The Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens will host a new culinary event in which visitors can sample some ingredients from Mount Vernon's gardens.  On Sept. 29, Mount Vernon will host Farm to Table, an event showcasing the historical aspects of food grown, stored and prepared while the Washingtons lived at Mount Vernon. The event will kick off with a reception in the upper garden where guests can sample Virginia wines and specialty drinks. Guests will take an exclusive tour of Mount Vernon's historic area to learn about the food the Washingtons consumed.
