Let’s Fly 'The 12 Days of Christmas'

How much would it cost to fly with all the items from the Christmas carol?

Earlier this month, PNC Bank released its 2012 Christmas Price Index documenting how much it would cost to buy the characters and objects from the song, "The 12 Days of Christmas." Last year, the number crested the $100,000 mark. This year, it grew 6.1 percent to $107,300. At Airline Tariff Publishing Company, where we work with airfares and ancillary fees instead of partridges and pear trees, we thought it’d be interesting to find out how much it would cost to fly with “The 12 Days of Christmas.” Specifically, how much would it set you back to bring those items as checked or carry-on baggage? Turkey 'Pardoned' by Obama in 2011 Dies at Mount Vernon

'Peace' was euthanized Monday days before 2012's turkeys arrived, CNN reported.

A year after President Obama pardoned him, turkey "Peace" died earlier this week at Mount Vernon, CNN reported. The turkey, one of two pardoned by Obama in 2011, was living at Mount Vernon. (Peace was the "understudy" to the 2011 turkey, "Liberty" who is still living at Mount Vernon.) The turkeys, both from Willmar, Minn., were named by Minnesota schoolchildren, according to a report from the Star Tribune. According to news reports, Peace was euthanized on the advice of a veterinarian in consultation with staffmembers at Mount Vernon after a weekend illness.
