Glenda - good to meet you last evening and thanks for Matthew's contact info. Now I just have to find thoseold rail spikes!!
On another note.....invasive plant species. As a horticulturist/landscape contractor & New Alexandria resident - I regularly try to educate my neighbors to rid theri properties of Porcelein Berry, Bittersweet, honeysuckle, etc. It's a losing battle as most think these choking vines are beautiful. I've been trying for 20 years. Birds are going to carry these seeds from Dyke Marsh (and GWMP property) and deposit them all up and down Mount Vernon. I think a wider "invasive plants" education of the neighborhoods abutting DM & GWMP would help in several ways: First it would decrease the habitat of invasives & second, it might help enlist more volunteers to help clear Dyke Marsh of them. New Alexandria, West Grove, Marlan, Villamay, etc., etc. Perhaps a piece in the Patch?? Just a thought.
