Shannon Steene, Neighbor

Shannon Steene serves as the Executive Director of Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services (GSH), a homeless prevention provider in southern Fairfax County, Virginia. Under his tenure the agency has grown and flourished amid a difficult housing market and tough economic climate.

<br>Shannon holds a Master’s in Public Policy from George Mason University, with projects and coursework that revolved around the topics of affordable housing,economic development, and governance in the nonprofit community – all of which are directly applicable to his work at GSH.

Cocktail conversation for Shannon often includes his upbringing in rural Minnesota, including 8 years of work on a hog farm, how his undergraduate college’s fight song was one of the few in ¾ time as well as his short (and largely unsuccessful) stint as a bartender at an American Legion Post in rural Nebraska.
