United Community Ministries Collects Over 7 Tons of Food in 'Scouting for Food' Drive

Mount Vernon-area based United Community Ministries collected over 7 tons of food in the annual “Scouting for Food” drive.

The non profit worked with local Boy Scouts and other volunteers to collect, sort, and package donated food items last weekend. The food will stock the UCM food pantry for the winter.

Every weekday, 80 to 100 needy families visit the pantry, the organization reports.
